Dr Rodney M Kuppen has more than 30 years’ experience in strategy, organisational design and development, business transformation, programme management and the leadership of complex organisational change. Four of those years were as Senior Manager: Strategy and Operations at Deloitte before establishing 4 Chakras Consulting.

4 Chakras Consulting is led by its Managing Director, Dr Rodney M Kuppen. He brings more than 30 years of experience in strategy, organisational design and development, business transformation, programme management and the leadership of complex organisational change.
Dr Kuppen holds a PhD in Nuclear Physics and began his career as a scientist, researcher and lecturer. His scientific work included research in molecular laser isotope separation and ground-based LIDAR systems used to detect ozone levels in Southern Africa. He published in scientific journals, participated in local and international conferences, and lectured physics and applied sciences at the University of Natal, ML Sultan Technikon and Natal Technikon.
In 2002, Dr Kuppen established 4 Chakras Consulting after recognising the need for credible smaller consulting companies capable of competing with larger organisations on specialist assignments while remaining practical, responsive and closely involved with their clients.
Since establishing the company, Dr Kuppen has led complex engagements involving strategy development, operating models, organisational design, business process optimisation, performance management, change management, leadership development and implementation planning. His work has included assignments across national, provincial and local government, public entities, state-owned organisations, legislatures, development organisations and private companies.
He has advised and worked with senior executives, Boards, Ministers, MECs and leadership teams. Organisations with which he has led significant engagements include the Department of Home Affairs, the South African Social Security Agency, the Department of Social Development, the South African Bureau of Standards, the South African Broadcasting Corporation, Transnet, the Gauteng and North West provincial legislatures, Johannesburg Market and the Lesotho Revenue Authority.
Dr Kuppen is an experienced facilitator who has worked at Board, executive, management and operational levels. He is a registered member of the Institute of Directors South Africa and a member of the Institute of People Management.
His approach combines scientific discipline, evidence-based analysis and systems thinking with practical implementation. He places particular emphasis on capacity building, knowledge transfer and ensuring that clients can sustain improvements after an engagement has ended.
Outside his professional work, Dr Kuppen is married, is the father of one daughter and has a deep affection for animals, especially cats.
